DAY CENTER IN CALI
This project was Day Center for handicapped children built in the outskirts of Cali (the triangular bracing of the main structure is an answer to this seismic region). Built with a very limited budget, the Center uses local traditional materials like wood, bamboo and roof tiles. The climate allows the fact that the building has no glass windows or any enclosures, except for the one around the property. The building skin is made of a light cement coating on the treated bamboo lattice. It is inspired by a local traditional appropriate technology. Its cost was less than the fifth of any conventional construction
In the Haiti project, the walls, instead of stones, could be built with a wood structure covered by bamboo upon which a protective coat of cement could be applied like in the following project built in Cali, Colombia.
